Q. Do you accept private insurance?
A. There are certain long term insurance companies with whom we, as a licensed facility with a Registered Nurse on staff, are able to receive reimbursement from. This includes, but is not limited to: Worker’s Comp or L&I, various long term care insurance policies, and various statewide programs (outside of WA state).
Q. What happens if our family member runs out of money?
A. Details surrounding the “spend down” of private funds and continuing long term care in our facility are discussed in detail during initial consultations, as they work on a case by case basis. However, as a general rule of thumb, once your loved one no longer has private funds to pay for their care, the POA/Guardian of the resident may apply through Washington Connection.
Q. What is your spend down policy?
A. (Spend down is the term used to explain when a person’s private funds run out and when they will convert to Medicaid)
We require a 90-day notice of when private funds will run out and a resident needs to transition to Medicaid. In addition, when we have completed a cost evaluation and moved to a signed contract we do require a written statement of how long a person’s private funds will last before they transition to Medicaid. This is based on our agreed-upon cost. This includes an estimated date and year of transition.
Q. Will you work with people through to Hospice?
A. Yes, absolutely. We have a very good reputation with the hospice agencies and are willing to work with hospice residents. We would probably make a recommendation to work with Community Home Health and Hospice https://www.chhh.org as our preferred provider for this service. However, we have and do work with others.
Q. Do you offer 24/7 care?
A. Yes, we do have night staff, We have 1 staff member to 6 residents overnight. in addition, we use call buttons and bed alarms for those who need extra precautions for their night time care.
Q. How much should we expect to pay?
A. Our cost begins at $4,500.00 per month and goes up based on the level of care and room chosen.
We have an assessment sheet that is very good at approximating what a rate will be at each level of care. So we encourage families to start with this to see if we fall within the range they expect to pay.
Our experience has been we are neither the lowest or the highest cost but fall within the medium price range of homes that offer our type of care. Each resident is required to have a qualified assessment in which will help us finalize cost based on care needs.
Q. How do you maintain resident’s autonomy?
A. Much like the individualized daily schedules and care needs, our staff will ensure that we initially (and regularly) assess and evaluate the highest level of resident autonomy.
We encourage our residents to continue living as their most independent selves, while aging with dignity and having built-in support (our staff) to assist, as care needs increase and diversify.
Q. What does a “day in the life” at Green Meadows look like?
A. Despite the fact that our residents live in a group/family home setting, our staff strives to individualize our residents’ daily schedules and care needs.
We firmly believe that a resident who is more of a “night owl” and “late riser” should be afforded the opportunity to continue that lifestyle (and vice versa).
Q. How often am I expected to visit?
A. We encourage visiting your loved one regularly! The frequency (and type) of visits are highly driven by the resident and their family/friends.
Our residents will always have ample opportunities to socialize with: scheduled staff members, fellow residents, and other volunteers/visitors.
Q. What is the staff to resident ratio?
A. Our staff to residents ratio is what makes our homes unique.
We offer, at a minimum, a one staff member to three resident ratio during daytime hours, while also maintaining a one staff to six resident ratio during night time hours.
The typical institutionalized setting frequently has a ratio of one direct care staff member to twenty, sometimes thirty, residents.
