While it is sometimes challenging to find activities for seniors with dementia, short term memory loss and limited mobility, we have found it best to start where they are; trying different things until something sparks interest. Several of our residents have found fun in simple things they enjoyed as a child, like coloring and listening to music. We understand that a key component to success in activities is engaging different senses.

It is very rewarding to find things that bring meaning to our residents’ day.  Most afternoons you will find us in the family room doing activities. Some will be reading, some coloring, some walking or solving word puzzles. We mix it up and just try to have fun. It is our desire to assist our residents in staying active not only in body but also their mind and other senses.  Activities mean different things to this age group, sometimes even helping with tasks like folding towels helps someone feel valued. The main thing is that our big screen TV is not our only source of entertainment.
